Национальный заповедник "Беринг-лэнд-бридж"Расположен на северном берегу полуострова Сьюард [ Seward Peninsula] в штате Аляска, на месте остатков естественного моста между Азией и Северной Америкой [ Bering Land Bridge], существовавшего более 13 тыс. лет назад. Площадь около 1,053 млн. кв. км. Высота местности до 800 м над уровнем моря. Лавовые потоки, горячие источники, что само по себе редкость для Арктики. Тундра. 112 видов мигрирующих птиц. Западная оконечность полуострова находится на расстоянии около 80 км от Чукотского полуострова (Россия). Полуостров разделяет Берингов пролив [Bering Straight], по которому проходит граница между Россией и США. Предполагается, что в древности на месте пролива существовал перешеек Берингия [Beringia; Bering Land Bridge]. Полуостров был впервые исследован в 1791 экспедицией под командованием А. Баранова. Залив Чукотского моря [Chukchi Sea] на западе штата Аляска. Длина - 330 км. Ширина - 54-130 км, глубина - 13-25 м. Большую часть года покрыт льдами. Получил название по имени русского мореплавателя Отто Евстафьевича Коцебу (1788-1846), открывшего залив в 1816.
